Question:

Which TV should I get?

Hey,

This year I've got into the freebie scene and got a free ps3, the thing is I now need a good TV to play it on.

So I'm really just looking for advice on what TV to get

Any suggestions? I was thinking a 40" son bravia but 40 refs may take some time.

So maybe a tv 37" about £500 - £600 but cost isn't much of an issue, it just means a few more people

I'd like to hear any suggestions

Thanks

Kev

  1. Hi Kev,

Congratulations on the PS3, you now need the perfect TV to play and watch it on.

For a PS3, as it is designed for high resolution pictures I would opt for a HD Ready 1080p TV, also known as Full HD 1080p. This means you will get the sharpest possible picture currently available, which is perfect for gaming or playing Blu-ray movies which are published in the 1080p format.

So their are many differnt TV's that you could choose. The Samsung LE40A556P (5 Series) is one of the cheapest 40" 1080p TV's on the market. At a fraction under £600 It is within your £500-£600 budget and looks great. Additionally it's features include 30000:1 contrast ratio (for a huge colour range from the brightest yellows, to the deepest blacks) and 3 x HDMI, meaning you can easily connect all your High definition equipment, such as your PS3 to your new TV.

If you are willing to edge slightly over your budget, the Sony KDL40V4000, at just under £700, is stylish, notoriously reliable and made to very high standards. It also has the added benefit of being a Sony component, so will combine with ease with your new PS3 & the Blu-ray discs it can play. It has 1 less HDMI port but a slightly better contrast ratio and it has the much acclaimed Bravia Engine 2.

There are many other options within your budget, so it is best to look at styling and think about brand reliability before making your purchase.

Whichever brand and model you choose, I hope you have lots of fun with your new PS3!

I dont think its the cheapest one but the extra HDMI ports (3) come in handy with the PS3 as well.
