  1. Definitely Sri Lanka. They're a much more consistent team than NZ and they have more match winning players. NZ are only good in dribs and drabs, it's not all that often that they're constant throughout a whole match or series.

  2. Sri Lanka

They actually have match winners in there side (Murali, Sangakarra and Jaywardena), whilst you could arguabrly say that NZ have no match winners in there team.

They are ranked higher in the Test match rankings, and even though NZ are ranked higher in the ODI rankings, Sri Lanka still went further than them in the 2007 World Cup. (theybeat them in the semi-finals)

  3. Both teams are fairly equal. Daniel Vettori is the best orthodox left-arm spinner in the world. Murali is a chucker, and I am not the only one who thinks so. Sangakkara and Jayawardene are match winners, but Brendon McCullum is as good a wicketkeeper-batsman as Mark Boucher, and in the post-Gilchrist era, one of the Top 4 in the world, along with Boucher, Sangakkara and Dhoni (yes, Brad Haddin is good, but he hasn't played enough to prove it yet). Although lacking in the batting department, Scott Styris and Jacob Oram are better all rounders than Maharoof or Weeraratne. The loss of Bond will dent NZ's fast bowling department, but barring Chaminda Vaas, Sri Lanka doesn't really have any good pacers (Thushara and Amerasinghe is inexperienced, Kulasekara is only medium-pace, Vaas himself is not quick either).

In a series between the two, the key factor would be the pitch and the conditions. Sri Lanka would be the better team at home, or in the subcontinent, as they have more and better spinners. NZ would win in their home conditions, where their batsmen would be able to score more runs and fast bowlers might just trouble the Sri Lankans.

At neutral venues outside the subcontinent, both are dead even.

  4. New zealand

To Joel-Hey buddy dont worry, thay are just fakers,it can not change the fact

Srilanka is an amazing team, what amazing they did after world cup?

knocked out at super 8 stage in t20 wc?amazing

and they r more consistent than Nz

    they(SL) keeps losing

they(Nz) dont have any match winners(mccullum, oram, taylor are just not match winners)

all SL players are oldies now,and NZ team is quite young.

  5. Sri lanka in tests.

    NZ in ODI's.

I think they are equally matched in Pro20 matches, both sides have explosive players.

  6. sri lanka

  7. Currently New Zealand is better than Srilanka, but when you compare New Zealand with Srilanka's overall records, then Srilanka is far better than New Zealand.

    Both are great teams.

  8. Sri Lanka All the way..

  9. Both are equally good sides.  While Sri Lanka performs better if matches are played in Sri Lanka and sub-continent pitches, New Zeland perform better whenever matches are played in New Zeland.  In neutral venues, Sri Lanka have slight edge over New Zeland.

  10. i will go for sri lanka becoz they have a fighting spirit.

  11. sl

  12. I would have to say Sri Lanka.  They have many great players (Muralidaran, Jayawardene, Sangakkara), and although New Zealand have some good players, they are just not as good as the Sri Lankan's.

Muralidaran can change a game in a short space of time, and Sangakkara's 192 vs Australia in Hobart was just brilliant.  The Sri Lankan's also made it to the final of the Cricket World Cup, only to be beaten by Australia, and I don't see New Zealand doing anything that amazing.

But I have to say, the Aussies can cream them all!

  13. Sri Lanka went further than them in the 2007 World Cup. they beat kiwis in the semi-finals

to become runners up so- what else

  14. Sri Lanka is Better Test Team but i think New Zealand has a Suprior ODI team at the moment.

The Last Series between the two teams was drawn in the tests and ODIs.

Now that Shane Bond has gone NZ has lost a major match winner but they still have the top ranked odi bowler in vettori and some game changing talent in McCullam, Taylor and Oram

EDIT- Forza you dont see NZ doing anything that amazing? we white washed an ODI series last year against aussie which included a 10 wicket win and two 330+ run chases in a row. i think thats quite amazing. sri lanka cant even beat the windies.

EDIT 2 - so if McCullams not a match winner what is he? a match loser? iv seen him play vital innings to beat aussie chasing massive totals. and hes become a destroyer at the top of the order now. Vettori is top Ranked ODI bowler and has turned the tide in heaps of games with his middle overs wizardry. and if taylor gets some confidence hes unstoppable

NZ got the to semis in the t20 world cup and they also beat india the eventual winners in the pool stages.

Sri Lanka have the better test team and the better batsman  and world class spinner.

NZs feilding, lower order firepower and team work make them a better ODI team

If you wana look at overall records

Tests = NZ won 9  SL won 5    10 draws

ODIs = Nz won 34 Sl won 30     1 tie and 3 NR

But that doesnt show current form

but in my thoughts two of the most evenly matched teams of recent years and we have played alot recently

    Hope i was helpfull

  15. SL in match winning
