Which Tennis Racket do you recommend and why are some so much more expensive then others?

I have recently lost my beloved Wilson Hyper Hammer Carbon tennis racket and i was looking for a new one online. That racket was a gift so when I looked online, i was extremely surprized at the prices of these rackets. I also noticed there was an extreme range between the prices of these rackets. They went anywhere from $20 to $250! (maybe even more). So I have two questions:

1- What makes a more expensive racket more worth it than a slightly cheaper one? ( I know its the quality but what in the quality is it that makes it so much better?)

2- Which racket would you recommend for me? ( I am a very balanced overall player. I may be a little more on the power side then a placement hitter. My Carbon was strung at the weight of 58 lbs. )

thank you =D

  1. It depends on alot of things. Sometimes if a racket isn't manufactured anymore then people can sell it on line for a higher price then it's worth. If your talking about getting another hyper hammer then you can get it at big 5 sporting good but i only saw a green hammer.

    1. It's kind of how rackets are made in a specific compound to give them a certain performance and flexibility. It's all complicated to explain if you just read about racket technology and science of it.

    2. If you a semi power and placement hitter then you should string your racket on high tension. more control for placement and generating your own power. It kind of depends of what kind of player you are like if you hit topspin or flat or your type of playing style.

  2. I can play tennis fairly well and to be honest, I happen to like the $20 rackets at WalMart just fine.  Unless you are going all out and stringing the racket yourself, then just find a lightweight racket in the sports section.  You could also find a decent racket at d**k's or another sports specialty store.  Best to go and look for yourself instead of ordering unless you absolutely know what you want.

  3. In more cases most expensive part of racket is a brand. Wilson is an expensive brand but they have a good models too. If you are Wilson fan you have a big choice. More comfortable rackets with more integrated systems are more expensive. I am not sure that this is necessary because professionals play with simple models and this models are cheapest. If you have not enough money get second hand racket. Don't worry good racket is a good racket
