  1. there are about 150 that will go out of business. If you are putting your money in a bank.STOP.  I am a financial advisor banks are a rip off

Any bank COULD go out of business; most will not.  In any case, if your account is insured by the FDIC, you will get your money, up to $100K, back within a few days.  By going out of business, I mean the FDIC or other federal agency will step in and take control of them, they won't just shut the doors.

    Personally, I have most of my money, and all my savings, in credit unions, they are owned by their members and take very few risks.  Credit unions have not been significantly affected by the mortgage meltdown because they were not making "stated income" loans or similar high risk loans.  I have one bank checking account for paying my monthly living expenses and I'm considering closing that one.
