  1. U.K.

  2. As for large countries that actually have projection power: France. Check your facts. Without them, there would be no America as a country. Remember who helped us in against the British since we proved ourseleves at Saratoga?

And yes, they do like us, just because they didn't go to Iraq, they are in Afghanistan. I've been there 5 times and never had a problem.

  3. i belive its the U.K.

we started being allies in the 1840's after we settled the dispute over the Oregon territory, bcuz of common language, histiory and such

  4. France.

The French were allies of the Americans since the declaration of Independence.

  5. France. 1778.

  6. Uzbekistan, they contributed greatly to the Normandy Invasion

  7. France of course.

France was an ally before we even became the United States.

Relations with france have never been as bad as people believe.

While france did not support our going into Iraq.

France did help the US, by increasing the number of French soldiers deployed to Bosnia and Kosavo,

So the US could redeploy US forces in Bosnia and Kosavo to Iraq.

France also rescued American citizens in the Ivory Coast in 2003, when the civil war started there.

The question was longest held ally, not the best ally,

    Which would be Britian.

Britian really didn't become an ally, untill after WW l

  8. As for me I would say France. France helped us win the Battle of Yorktown which ended the Revolutionary war, and ever since we haven't had a military conflict with them.

  9. Probably France. The UK's been at odds with the USA a few times since the Revolution; notably in the War of 1812 and a brief spat in 1861, but since then, our relationship has been good. France has supported y'all since day one, but that was probably to get at us Brits.

  10. Actually Morocco was the first country to recognize the US as a country - way back in 1776, and we have never been at war with them.

  11. France or England

  12. France, since before the American Revolution.

  13. UK more than likely but other than the UK I'd have to say Israel and they've been one of our best allies.  Never France and they still aren't our ally.  They've gone against us in many ways including their deals with Saddam.

  14. Probably our very first antagonist-England. Which goes to show ya that arch enemies can become friends, given similar interests and values. France don't like us no more. Their Olympic team even insulted us and we whooped their much deserved ***. They sell nuclear technology to Iran and the former Iraq- with friends like that who needs enemies? Not only that, they have the nerve to hate Bugs Bunny and mickey Mouse! They merely used us as a model for their own republic at the time and have thumbed their noses at us ever since-common. The one lasting credit I am willing to give them is the statue of Liberty Oh, and they left us a lovely portion of their failed empire in Vietnam! Gee, thanks France in the pants.

  15. For pure time, the French, they helped us win the Revolution and with a few exceptions have been our allies since that time. The closest would have to be the UK or Australia, actually, Australia has fought with us more than even the UK since the UK sent no troops to Vietnam but the Aussies did and they were both with us in WWI, WWII, Korea, Gulf I and Gulf II as well Afghanistan.

  16. Ironically the UK.

France pays for the whole thing, commits thousands of troops and the Navy and America turns round and makes the UK it's main trade partner the minute the war ends.

Relations with France have always been rather strained. The very first treaty America made with France was broken under the reasoning that they had made the treaty with the King, so to keep the treaty with Revolutionary France would technically be aiding his enemies.

    Funny old world, innit?

  17. God ;)

  18. The UK, soon after getting their *** kicked in the revolutionary war. Our alliance with them goes back to World War 2. Along with other European countries.

  19. France. Without them, the US wouldn't have won the Revolutionary War.
