  1. Big cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago Los Angeles, etc. More opportunities are usually located in the big cities. Later when you are established in the US then you can move to another state which might not offer the same opportunities.

  2. California has the biggest population of asian immigrants.

    Canadians tend to head south.

  3. Arizona.  They have a tough sheriff who keeps illegal immigrants doing hard time, so if you are a legal immigrant you will have a big advantage.

  4. Oklahoma

  5. Montana

  6. It doesn't really matter.

Consider factors such as local economy, job opportunities, climate, environment.

Montana has one of the lowest population densities of the entire country but the job market ain't awesome. On the other hand, it's nearly deserted considering how large it is and there's plenty of beautiful, unspoiled nature.

If you prefer the southern deserts, look into Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada... Those have more thriving economies, too, due to larger urban centers. But of course it's the desert, so it's ridiculously hot and dry during the summer.

And the list goes on. No state really stands out as far as what's good or bad for immigrants, so it's all up to what you're looking for.

  7. Legally?   Probably California.  Illegally?  Don't bother.

  8. Right now, there are states with FEDERALLY funded programs to protect illegal immigrants.  Cities in California, New York and others that have these programs are the ones you want to be in when looking for a safe haven to be here illegally.  Otherwise, it's good to go wherever there is work for you to do.  I don't care if an immigrant is here legally, with a work visa or an application for a green card or even an application to become an American citizen.  Chicago is the Headquarters to a lot of major companies and would be a place to be if the immigrant had skills.  Any area where farming is the major working climate is good for those who have a smaller skill set.  Detroit would still be good for those who have mechanical skills as cars always need repairs.  The hospitality industry, hotels and motels, can always use a good handyman or housekeeper.  There are many places to be here whether you're an immigrant or not, but as for an illegal immigrant, it's amazing that there are cities using Federal funds to keep someone here illegally, but that's the case.

    Hope this helps.
