You don't have to write like an essay, I just want to see other people's opinions and why they think that...

  1. Lincoln

  2. James Madison.  It is from James Madison that we began viewing the Constitution with religious zealotry as opposed to the law, albeit fundamental law, that it really is.  For that reason, we are afraid to Amend it, preferring Judicial and Legislative rationales for accomplishing things that the Constitution does not afford the Federal Government the authority to.  The end result is a vicious cycle, by both parties, that has rendered the Constitution meaningless and only a symbolic representation of this country.  Since it Madison, not Washington, Jefferson or Lincoln, that has the most impact TODAY, I would say it is Madison.

Lincoln led this country during the Civil War but, keep in mind, that the Confederate States were merely attempting to resign from a nation that they had voluntarily joined.  They viewed the Northern pressure on there economic freedom as being just as over burdensome as King George III's 85 years earlier.  In going to war with the South, Lincoln essentially violated the 10th Amendment.

  3. It would be a toss up between George Washington & Abraham Lincoln

  4. George Washing first President and general in Revolution war (duh ), but also was at the convention where they drafted the Constitution of the United States.

  5. George Washington

Fought for our country, first president, didn't become a dictator..ect Just got us started in general.

  6. George Washington

For having the guts to fight the British Empire and making this great country

And the other would be Abraham Lincoln for saving this nation from falling apart to succession and foreign influences.

To bad we couldnt clone Washington and Lincoln together for the perfect President.

  7. Thomas Jefferson - Without him we might not have the constitution and might be less than half the country we are....i.e. Louisiana Purchase.

  8. Thomas Jefferson

  9. Although the list includes Lincoln, who would be near the top, my choice would have to be Washington.  His actions largely defined how the office would be conducted, as it is to the present day.
