I'm planning transfering to a university after I get my associate's at community college. I major in elementary education and special education and my fiance in high school music education.

I'm looking for the top teacher education programs. I've searched and searched for unbiased sources but without much luck.

Also, I have no idea which state I want to teach in, and I might even teach abroad. So, a school that is flexible about transfering credits, and doesn't just try to keep graduates in-state would be ideal.

  1. US News always ranks things - Here is their ranking of education graduate schools:

Id be wary of any lists - the best school is the one that fits *you*

Also - You have an incorrect idea about how teaching certification works - schools do not "just try to keep graduates in-state". They do this *by law*. Teacher credentialing is a states issue. *States* certify their teachers - So every state must agree with the university about the scope and series of things the university must cover to allow for certification.

You need to decide what state you want to teach in - then find a state approved program. If you train in one state - get certified, youll need to reregister with every new state you want to teach in.

  2. I think there are a lot of good education programs out there.  You could probably find a pretty good one within your own state, which might give you the advantage of in-state tuition.  I would start by looking at what the best schools are in your area, and then spreading out from there.  You may want to talk to some educational faculty at some universities and ask where some of the best educational research is coming from - because those are probably the schools with the best programs.

  3. First of all you have to decide your area of interest like: teaching medical students, engineering, computer, like that. Then you complete your graduation in that didcipline, then go for Post Graduation along with special training in the speciality. Path is difficult but not impossible. You have to look for your aptitude also, because teaching require: passion, devotion and commitment, etc.

  4. I heard the Texas womens has a program where you can get your teaching certificate and masters! They are located in Denton Tx. Good luck!

  5. Mercer University in Georgia (they have programs in Atlanta and Macon) has a great Education program. It really depends on which area you want to concentrate in. I majored in Elementary education and went there. At the time the college did not have a Master's in special ed but had a minor in it so I transfered to the University of North Alabama in Florence Alabama. They have a wonderful program in Education. It is a smaller college (public) with smaller classes and the professors are one on one. Depending on how much you can spend for college, I would recommend either of the two. Mercer is a private school, UNA is a public school.
