I have a 2000 VW Cabrio (convertible) and a 1971 VW Super Beetle convertible. I am going to have to sell one of them. Which would you keep? BTW, neither is my 'daily driver.'

  1. If it is in decent condition  - 1971 without a doubt - much more history there.

  2. I'd keep the '71, also.

  3. I would keep the Beetle. It's a classic. If it was an old Cabrio, it would be a toss-up. Since it wouldn't be your daily driver, then you can deal with noise and spartan features - but that's the car's character.

  4. Keep the 2K. The older VW's are noisy, have only like 40 HP, run on breaker point ignition which is a pain and very inefficient, and the engines fall apart if driven very hard.

My younger sister had one for a couple years, and after I put in 3 engines, I suggested she dump the P.O.S., which she wisely did. This was back in '73.

  5. Definitely the 71 Bug. It is a classic and will continue to be very unique. If it is in good shape it will always draw attention and be fun to drive!

  6. keep the super beetle, they go forever....i had two...always sad that i parted with either.

  7. what kind of condition is the bug in? the floor boards rot out from rust and that would be quite pricey to replace. it also depends on where you live

  8. Personally I would keep the older one. Its more fun to drive, gets more attention and cheaper to repair. Speaking from personal experience, I got a lot more looks and attention in my 1969 than in my New Beetles.
