Ericsson, Helm, Abdelkador and possibly Larssen! Mursak has a good chance of making the team in a few years along with Pyett!

Quincey is seen as a Lilja type Defenseman... Meech is like a Lebda...Howard is a stop gap for now..... Filppula is a career 2nd liner, maybe 3rd in a different system and I wouldnt consider him that young.....Ritola will have a tough time making the Wings....

Of the Restricted free agents.. Ericsson, Helm and Filppula are the ones they would want to keep no matter what, barring they get offers that are outrageous and decide not to match it.

Quincey and Howard could be let go if they were offered more than the Wings were wanting to sign them for.

Darren Helm....He was outstanding on the fourth line in the playoffs!!!!  The kid has wheels too.  Can't wait to see him mature.

Filpulla just seems to get better every game.  He reminds me of a young Datsyuk sometimes in his stickhandling.  Abdelkader is another one to look out for, as is Helm.  Red Wings are in great shape for a long time.

There was no other candidate, because he was the only rookie to play any significant time. My pick for quality guy that will stick around is Ericsson. Unfortunatly, in Detroit, most guys dont get a shot until they are 24 yo or so, which frustrates me alot. Its nice to give guys time to develop, but some guys develop with trial by fire. I like the way Abdelkader plays, and I think he could be a nice surpirise to the team. One last thing, Chelios, please, let it go.... Let these young guys get their shot already. Bow out gracefully, and let the new guard move in.

I am really looking forward to seeing what Ericsson and Helm can do.  Ericsson is a huge kid and while the Griffins have struggled in recent seasons he has managed to keep a positive +/- rating and increased his point production each year.  Helm is a lightning fast skater and has shown in his 3 year WHL career that he can score.  Although nobody else has mentioned him, Jiri Hudler is still pretty young and seems to have some pretty good scoring ability but he will have to work on his defense to really fit into the Wings system long term.
