  1. Crunches work the upper abs. Sit ups work upper and lower abs, but not as efficient. Leg raises work lower abs.

    For example:

    Crunches - 100% upper abs

    Sit ups - 50% upper abs and 50% lower abs

    Leg raises - 100% lower abs

    (They work out various other small muscles, but not significantly)

    Basically, do them all, if you can. Personally, I alternate between crunches and leg raises, but I'm working them hard. If you do 20 of each a day, it won't make a difference.
