  1. Canada is a country where winter and summer are almost identical ( from the point of view of people living in countries where changes in seasons are noticeable).

From my perspective, if global warming raises the global temperature, changes in temperature will be noticeable in somer of the regions. In consequence, the lives of the people will change (more outdoor activities - compare tropical regions) this may be beneficial to commerce

Additionally, an increase in temperature will cause a decrease in energy consumption for heating, thus saving on non-renewable energy sources.

on the other hand, global warming may as well have nefarious effects on Canada's ecosystem - just imagine - the life of fish in the rivers, and animals on land will definitely be altered!

  2. lucky old canada and siberia (and patagonia), you will be the only winners in this disaster. (the innuit will have to completely change their lifestyles of course, but once the ex.permafrost swamps settle down there will be good fishing).

guard your borders! there will be a lot of displaced people coming to join you. stay friendly with the u.s. or you will be crushed.

  3. A wider variety of food crops due to a longer, warmer growing Season... More fresh water & less seasonal Ice than they have now... And a TREMENDOUS increase in Population- as MILLIONS of Americans flood North to escape the Record Heat, Drought, & crop failures- that will be spreading across the South & American "breadbasket..." :0

  4. global warming?

  5. If Canada has any kooks, it will make them happy and give them something to whine about.

  6. what kind of advantages could this global problem bring to one country? its a problem for everyone. no one benefits from this kind of situation. the only "good" thing that global warming brings is warmer winters, but is that really good if you look at the big pictuere?

  7. It will bring an eary death and a shallow grave for all.  For those who have earned it that will be a good thing.  The others are simply their victims.

  8. A natural warming trend would make the season less severe the farther north and Canada could in theory be like viking times Greenland and able to be more hospitable in the long run.

PS I spend a lot of time in Canada and went up to Fort McMurray a few months ago and I am still waiting for this warming to occur. This was by the far the coldest winter I can remember and I live in TN. I still doubt man has any influence over the climate to the degree that the Gorites claim.

I am for a warmer climate because I hate the cold and would actualy lead to a more stable climate in the long run. The oceans would be warmer thus Europe would be warmer and maybe Russia could grow some food as well as China. As it is now America and Canada grow 40% of the worlds food and a warmer spring and fall Canada and the US could use food as commodity to get Oil cheaper which we should.

  9. Climate change is not about tropical seasons, it is about weather changes from dumping heat atmospherically and changing the weather formula.

The US has tornadoes in winter this year, Canada has record snowfalls that haven't been seen in 80-100 years, flooding, etc.

Last week in my area of British Columbia, the birds, butterflies, bees and blossoms were out. Today it is below freezing, we just had snowfall, it will rain this afternoon and the temperature is 10 degrees C below the normal for this time of year.

The local media is talking about the freeze affecting fruit blossoms and killing bees. Without bees and the other pollinators, there won't be crops, prices will go up, shortages and countries are objecting to food prices.

There isn't going to be a benefit to any of this. Have you ever seen temperature before?

Go to http://www.thermoguy.com/globalwarming-h... and see how we are generating extreme heat on the surface of the planet. We are reacting to the symptoms with ozone depletion, massive electrical waste, GHG emissions, acid rain, mercury emissions, etc.

Look at the link and wonder why we are worried about C02 trapping heat atmospherically while we generating heat close to boiling temperature on the surface of the planet everyday with every new development.

  11. It will be sunnier and more tourists will come.

    crops will become better too.

  12. all the lakes will stay unfrozen, and that means them ice road truckers will be out of work

  13. It is a myth that there will be winners and loser from the effect of global warming. There might be a relatively short windfall effect for some areas but if this problem is not corrected it could very well extinct the human race. Unfortunately we're going to bring over half the species down with us.

Fortunately awareness is starting to grow and people are working on solutions more so than on debate.

  14. They will profit more from maple syrup exports (the US sugar maple forests are migrating north as the temperature gradient shifts). And yes, trees do migrate, it just takes a much longer time than animals.

  15. The GW scam has increased the price of oil. It could drive the whole world into a deep recession.

  16. Read the book "When the Rivers Run Dry"....and you'll discover that Canada will be the next leader of the world....when most of the rest of the world is out of water....Canada more water than any other country. And we in the Great Lakes share it with you and will try to make sure our Governors protect this precious natural resource!

  17. It will be worse, not beneficial.  In the long term, global warming will decrease yields (in farming situations).  Look at the Inuits, who it is already hurting.  The Canadien insurance industry is already worried about it.  Widespread flooding is predicted.  According to a 2007 poll, 'most Canadians “believe that making significant reductions” of this kind would either be beneficial or neutral in terms of the impact this would have on Canada’s standard of living, the strength of the country’s energy sector and Canada’s reputation in the world.'

DrHenry:"There are predicted problems, but studies show that these will be less than the advantages in the grand schem of humankind."

    Please show these studies.

BTW DrHenry, Are you just talking about Canada or all of humankind?  Nothing good is predicted for Africa, Southern Asia, or central American which are already hot.

Edit: Matt, tell the tens of millions of people who will starve or thirst in Africa and south Asia, they were not worth the money.

  18. Any so-called advantages will undoubtedly be short lived. Currently, implementation of  "Made-in-Canada" plans for reducing greenhouse gases and ensuring clean air, water, land and energy for Canadians are in the works, although the nation has been lagging somewhat in moving forward.

Gains and losses will probably average out, such that there will not be a major threat to world food production, assuming suitable and cost-effective adaptation measures can be implemented. On the other hand, the lesser ability to adapt agriculture to changed climate in some regions, especially the poorer regions of the planet, will have a potentially large regional impact, including security of food. There may be significant new opportunities for Canadian agriculture in a warmer world, provided sufficient precipitation occurs in food-producing areas. Other regions are likely to be adversely affected. In Canada, northward expansion of cultivation could also lead to conflict with existing land use and the stakeholders in forestry, wildlife habitat and hunting. This could pose an additional threat to native lifestyles.

  19. It's snowing and it's almost summer!! wow!!

    im in canada!

  20. well frankly speaking it will help canada because there will be no chilling winter and the temperature will remain hot so the farmers there can grow more crops that will help the country.

  21. all it will give them is a large overdose of yellow jackets!

  22. They'd be able to swim in the Great Bear Lake, sunbathe in Calgary, and, go on package tours to Yellowknife!

  23. global warming is fake...how do you explain the climate change millions of years ago before humans?

  24. Some advantages that are predicted will be longer growing seasons, use of less energy in winter, fewer deaths due to exposure in winter.  There are predicted problems, but studies show that these will be less than the advantages in the grand scheme of humankind.

  25. The main benefit to Canada will be the opening of the Arctic ocean which will provide a more direct shipping channel from the Pacific to the Atlantic, which will run straight through Canadian waters.

  26. I think the awarness

  27. Land where weather is too cold to grow anything will become fertile. Fewer deaths due to cold weather. Less poverty and homelessness. Do not get your hopes up though. Global warming is a hoax invented by Al Gore to try to steal the US presidency in the 2000 US presidential election. Only mentally ill people now actually believe in the hoax.

  28. Except any revenue generated by increased tourism will sort of be offset by the global economic collapse . . .

  29. It will not matter because the costs the government will impose on the economy to fight global warming will outweigh any benefit.

  30. there is nothing good about it

  31. Well, we know global warming is happening, but we don't know how dramatic it will be.  The climate could change a degree or 8 degrees. If it's too dramatic we could see many species become extinct... like the polar bears who need the cold! With global warming we may see a dryer or more humid climate, which could cause more storms or more droughts. Also becuase this climate change is caused mostly by man made pollution more people will have breathing problems, like asthma. I believe there are no advantages to global warming.
