Question:

Which agricultural colleges are top ranking colleges in the U.S.?

I want to go to college for Agribusiness and equine studies. However I want to go to the best college available for it (and I am sure I could get into any college I wanted, because I have very good grades+test scores). I have researched a lot, but I just do not know how to know if the college is high ranking or not.

I want to be able to say, "I went to _____ college" with honor. And for people listening to say, " WOW, that's a really tough/great school". (Is that silly or conceited? IDK)

Anyway I am 17 and I will graduate by Christmas. (If that helps you see were I am, and why I am asking)

  1. America's Best Colleges 2008 (see the site below) lists many colleges/universities that offer Equestrian/Equine Studies.  Click on each for information about them.

The second link is the same site but with a list of schools offering Agribusiness/Agricultural Business Operations.

    good luck

  2. You may have to go to the midwest (Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas) or to Texas for the agribusiness part. Might check out North or South Dakota State system also. I know that Cornell has excellent pre-vet and business programs, but I am not sure that they have a major featuring both of your interest areas. There may be a program like you seek in the CalState system.

In my opinion, all of the big state systems are good schools. Besides, I think that it is more important where you go to grad school than where you do your undergraduate work.

    Best of luck to you.

  3. I was told Michigan State University had a good agricultural college.
