  1. I have the RWS 350 magnum, and it is extremely powerful. I would get it in .22 cal. because it is more accurate and has more knock down power. RWS also are higher quality than Gamo's too. The RWS 350 magnum is also extremely accurate and will shoot 1/2 in. groups at 30 yards. But I can hit cans and bottles out to 70 yards, I didn't try shooting out any farther than that. I would highly recommend the RWS 350 magnum over the Gamo Hunter Extreme.

  2. Both are 950 fps in .22 (what I'd choose). The Gamo is not out yet in .22 but coming soon. It is HEAVY @ 12 lbs. I have used the .177 version which tips the scales at 9 lbs. The RWS is only 8.3 lbs. The .177 Gamo was made in England (by Webley?) and probably now that Webley is made in Turkey, the Gamo will come in from there. These are the only Gamos I've seen that weren't from Spain.

I'd expect to save about $100 with the Gamo and have a good scope included. You need MUSCLES to c**k this break barrel. About 58 lbs for the .177, 65 lbs for the .22!

On the other hand, the RWS is a reasonable 36 lbs effort. Something you'll appreciate after a few shots. It is an underlever, which by design is more accurate.

Compared to the Gamo, if I wanted to save money, I'd look into ordering a Webley Patriot. It will take months to get, but worth the wait. Even if you get it from Pyramid modded with Air Venturi Gas Ram, it will come in around the same price as the Gamo.

If you want power on the cheaper side, consider the Mendoza

  3. i have the gamo hunter extreme in .22 (it came out early in spain and i ordered it directly from there) and it is indeed much more powerful than the 350 mag usually german guns velocities are truer than any other guns but in the case of the rws 460 and 350 magnums this is not my friend has the 350 magnum and his older brother has the 460 and both are very powefful dont get me wrong but on the chrony the 22 hunter extreme is much quicker than both of them oh and btw both of their rifles are 22 cal not 177 but 177 wise the hunter extreme i feel more confidently will win because of my test but then again that was with 22 caliber air rifles

  4. The two rifles are different in some ways but very much the same.

The RWS is made in Germany by Diana Mayer & Grammelspacher. They are makers of some of the popular models on the market, the RWS 48, 52 side lever cocking, the 34, 460, Panther & the RWS 350 are break barrel spring piston.

The 350 is the senior premier model. It has been in the market for as long as I can remember, the early 90's, late 80's? But I can't be sure.

The 350 has a history, a dedicated society of  followers extolling the awesome knock down power on varmints & quarry, accuracy to within "1/2 inch" anywhere between 12 to 40 yards depending on the pellet. It will hit, destroy, puy down immediately, penetrate almost anything accurately within that range!!

I took interest to the Hunter Extreme because of it's marketing. Extolling a marketed high power at 1600 fps. A sleeved barrel, and readily accesible to upgrade with your choice of scope mount.

I have read both positve and negative reviews of both guns at the reviewcentre.com website. everything from unstable pellet flight or cracked stock on the Hunter Extreme to the low barrel angle on the 350 and the need to shim the scope mount.

Both rifles suffer severely from scope shift and mount instabilities & breakage due to repeated heavy recoil. Both rifles recoil above average, with the Hunter Ex. Gamo having the heaviest recoil. With heavy recoil comes mount & scope problems of breakage, inaccuracy due to recoil & scope misalignment due to repeated firing of heavy recoil.

I finally decided to purchase the RWS 350 in .22 caliber, based on AESTHETICS. Stock, grain, monte carlo cheek piece, bluing, all steel barrel & receiver, the composite trigger & receiver cap seems cheap but my trigger breaks at 3 lbs. In addition the 350 humanely put down varmints that destroy my garden with ONE shot anywhere on the body & head. Literally exploding the quarry with a Beeman Crow Magnum pellet! Penetrating all the way through even with hollow points at 22 yards.

As with any rifle a period of breakin is needed to smoothen things out.

Both guns are scary loud in an urban environment.

Both are heavy to c**k with the Gamo Hunter claiming a 58lb cocking effort to acheive velocity.

The RWS 350 is 38lbs. to c**k to acheive it's marketed 1200 fps in .22 caliber.

Both guns can perform exceptional on any media that you might use as target.

Both guns are beasts. The Hunter Extreme Gamo being more beastly or ugly to shoot or tote in the field despite its awesome power. It's power factor puts it in it's own class I think. A spring gun on steroids. how long would it last?

The RWS 350 a beast with better lines and manufacturing quality. THIS YEAR DIANA COMES OUT WITH THEIR FEUERKRAFT PROFESSIONAL MODELS, fully loaded with scope & muzzlebreak, a simple stock in carbine or regular length in their Panther, 38 & 350 series. Straight from the factory all in one package & price.

The RWS 350's power factor is noticably much higher than than your average air rifle.

You just have to ask yourself, how much work do you want to have in a shooting session. Are you willing to go through a rough breakin period heavy repeated cocking, or with great muzzle power & velocity, is there really accuracy & longevity? Hope this helped.
