Badly maintained ones.  Air in an aircraft cabin is pumped in by the engines.  You have to do it this way - the pressure is too low outside for them just to open the windows.  If the engine is properly maintained, the air it pumps in is as good as the air outside.  If some idiot has splashed oil all over the engine, it will burn and make the cabin smell like a lorry exhaust.

Two types that have had problems are the Boeing 757 and the British Aerospace BA 146.

Both these types are elderly and are starting to be taken out of service.
