  1. expressjet.  Made the announcment today that they are filing for bankruptsy, and are ceasing all opperations

  2. It is kind of hard to say right now because all the airlines with the exception of Southwest are pretty beaten down with the high price of fuel.  However most of the airlines have just come out of bankruptcy and have unloaded a lot of debt which makes them more competitive against the low-cost airlines.

I do not see any of the majors who will file bankruptcy unless oil spikes to say $200 or more because what the airlines are doing right now is that they are cutting capacity and raising ticket prices, trying to hold out to see if one of their competitors will fold.  The former CEO credited with turning around Continental Airlines says that 1-2 major airlines need to fold in order to help the airline industry right now.

  3. One could not answer that question, as a Air line could be seen as doing extremely well, then suddenly crash, so to point one out would be assuming, therefore that is an unanswerable question unless one is filing bankruptcy this very moment.
