Which airline is better to travel and why? I don't care about on board service, I just don't want to have to worry about delays.

  1. My whole life I've flown Northwest and I only had a delay once and that was an hour just because of weather. You may want to join an airline's loyalty club. Sometimes if you get enough miles you can get a free ticket and when you go to the airport some have lounges. But do NOT fly spirit. Just because there is no assigned seating and you may or may not get a seat on the plane. Hope this helps!

  2. From where to where?

  3. For the most part I'd select Northwest Airlines if you connect through Detroit.  I would not fly United or American for having to go through Chicago O'hare to connect. Delta is a no no having to connect in Atlanta or Dallas.

Detroit is also a good place to catch an International flight to Europe or to the Orient. Detroit has various non stops to Tokyo and to Amsterdam, Paris ,Frankfurt, London   that connects to KLM. Not to mention there are various flights on NWA Airlink to smaller airports where other airlines don't fly.

Another fact about Detroit's Airport is that when connecting from an International Flight to a Domestic there's an average of 45 minutes in clearing U.S.Customs and getting through the Checkpoint.  Also just getting though a Checkpoint, Detroit is rated high in being the quickest in getting you through.  I think Detroit is the Best Kept Secret in the Airline Industry.  Plus, when NWA and Delta merge it really won't effect DTW because we' re so new and have four active runways  that can all be operational at the same time.  Our runway system is one of most powerful airfields in the world.

One other thing to remember is that NWA Maintenance Facility is located at DTW and if you do have an aircraft maintenance issue you won't loose a day's vacation.  Usually, within a couple hours the plane gets swamped out or in less time the part that needed replacement is on site and fixed quickly.

  4. On any airline you travel you run the risk of delays, it depends on how busy the travel day is and weather! The only airline I pretty much fly is United Airlines and they are great. They always board on-time and the flight it self is always on-time. Despite of what people say about United Airlines it is a very reliable airline, most people don't fly United enough to truly know how good they are. Whenever I fly which is a lot! The airplane always arrives at the gate on time and it always departs on time. In fact the plane usually always arrives at its destination earlier than expected! a few other good airlines would be Delta or Northwest!

  5. Now here is where you run into problems.... The best on delays airline is southwest on doubt. But that isn't on your list. I would from the start rule out US Air, they are the worst at that. Now i would have to say Continental but they are usually very expensive. For on-time vs money i would have to say NWA (Northwest). Im the manger at MCO for delta and they are a great airline but a little over priced so i wouldn't go with that. But at this point its really up to personal preference.

  6. There isn't a dimes worth of difference in all of them.

  7. I have NEVER had a delay with alaska. You could also try united.
