Question:

Which airlines are charging hidden fees?

I know some airlines have started charging extra for any bags you check, the second bag only, for any snacks or food on flights, even long ones, and for other little things you wouldn't expect. Does anyone know if there's a 'master list' out there somewhere listing which airline is charging what? I usually just pick the cheapest flight I can find, regardless of airline, but if one of them is going to charge me an extra $100 at the airport, it's worth factoring into the decision before I purchase a ticket.

So, how about it? Is there a site that lists all these extra fees?

  1. Southwest doesn't serve you anything but peanuts and sodas, and doesn't have assigned seating...they never have.  So, what's there to charge you for??  They still have all the fuel surcharges and taxes that all other airlines have, so...

Check with each individual airline to see what they charge you for...Continental still serves meals on flights of 4 hours or more...free of charge.  They charge only $1. for headsets, have pillows and blankets (free for use), alcoholic beverages are $5, but all other drinks are still complimentary, and while many carriers are charging now for even your first checked bag, Continental only charges for the second one.  Pricing differs from airlines to airline on what they charge, but I know of no site that lists them.

The fees are not generally 'hidden', and are usually available for inquiry and explaination on virtually all airline's respective websites.

  2. Defiantly US Airways.

  3. Ryanair are the worst for this.

They have flights advertised for a certain price, but when you go to book you much pay £16 to check in(double that for a return flight) and £16 to take a bag with you (again, double this for a return flight” then worst of all, no matter what credit card you use to book the flight, even the Ryanair credit card, they all charge you £20 to make the booking. So a flight advertised at £10 really costs nearer £100.

  4. I think south west is the only one not tacking on extras.

  5. All of them have hidden fees like gas surcharge, teller booking, counter booking... but I red on a magazine that southwestern has the less expensive charges so...
