  1. I would rather have the one who is in form and physically fit and injury free at the moment.

  2. I think Marco is right in saying Botham was a better match winner;

But I see Len Anders' point in choosing the one more appropriate to the circumstance

  3. Between these two I'd take Sir Richard Hadlee.

But above all my Only two choices would be the Great Wasim Akram or Imran Khan

  4. Beefy

  5. How about the young Botham, before he started living off his reputation from Headingley 1981, and the older Hadlee, after he gave up being a tearaway fast bowler, and concentrated on line and length?

I'm actually going to pick Hadlee. His batting wasn't as good as Botham's (and Botham was a far better batsman that his figures show - he could have batted four for England if he hadn't been an all-rounder), but Hadlee was a decent enough batsamn, and a much better bowler. Also Hadlee played in a weaker (on paper at least) team than Botham, and often had to carry the attack.

  6. Could I please have them both & watch some of the big teams around the world lose (except the Aussies of course)

  7. Hadlee. Sorry KooKee, but Beefy was never a favourite of mine.

  8. Aww, come on, how can you ask ask that of an Ausie! You should have made it a question that aplies to everyone apart from an Australian!

I will have to go for (through gritted teeth) Beefy! He could turn a game with bat or ball like no other I heve seen in my lifetime. (although I just hate to admit that!!)

  9. Hadlee on my team - Bowlers are more important than Batsmen - It's that simple.

A great bowler can take 9 wickets and destroy a whole innings, but a great batsman can make runs which may or may not win the game.

Look at Lara 3 double hundreds in losing games and a 300 and a 400 in draws

How many times has a bowler taken 7-8-9 wickets in an innings to draw the game.

Botham was great - No doubt at all, his wicket takings was at times a little lucky, but I think his bowling was found out at the end of his career when reputation meant little.

I'm by no means trying to be critical, I just think I want to explain my decision.

Hadlee was one of the best bowlers ever, in fact he almost single handedly beat us (Aus) in three games (tests).

They are both great and I would have both in my team if I could, but a great bowler is the first thing I would pick for any side in any format - ODI, T20 or Tests.

Hadlee had to bowl most of the time when his side had posted 200-250 type scores and a lot of the time he did win the game.

Botham got to bowl to 350-450 scores, which is a massive difference.

  10. Beefy

    Headingley '81. Enough said.

  11. well Hadlee basically had to try and win games on his own, as he had a lack of support in the side he was in, but i have always thought of him as more of a guy who can save you from defeat rather then take you from nowhere to lead you to a win.

Beefy, well for one, he had a better mo'! admittedly he got more support from his team than Hadlee, but at times he didnt need it cos he could do it on his own with bat or ball, he could win games for his side that they had no right to win (i mean we all know about 1981)

having said all that, i gotta pick Botham!

  12. im sorry but i disagree with the "one"... where has he been watching his cricket??... the one all rounder that could turn games around was Imran khan but for this questions id go for Beefy

    .

  13. Ian Botham

  14. Sir Ian Botham

    no

    imran khan

  15. shane watson........................he 's really an outstanding allrounder
