  1. many states are divided along rivers are rivers included in the count????

  2. TOO MANY TO LIST AND ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T INCLUDE RIVERS. START WITH SOUTH AND NORTH DAKOTA WYOMING NEBRASKA, KANSAS OKLAHOMA AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON.

  3. Many, look at a map.

Colorado, Wyoming, Utah are just three.

  4. Actually, not all that many.  Most states have a body of water (ocean, river, lake, etc.) forming at least part of their boundaries.  The only states with no boundaries formed by water are:

    Montana

    Wyoming

    Colorado

    Utah

New Mexico comes pretty close, but a little piece of its border with Texas is on the Rio Grande River.  (EDIT - added a little more.)  Nevada also comes close, but the majority of its border with Arizona is formed by the Colorado River.  Hope that helps!

EDIT - for BR Tiger:  I'm originally from Montana, and I can tell you that its jagged western border is **not** on a river.  It was supposed to be the Continental Divide, but for part of the way the surveyors followed the wrong mountain range.

  5. If you include rivers as a boundary on water, the only ones that fit your criteria are:

    New Mexico

    Colorado

    Wyoming

    Utah

    Nevada

edit - Navigator is right about Nevada & New Mexico, but Montana also has a border on a river.  So it looks like it's only:

    Colorado, Wyoming  and Utah.

    Very good question.
