Outlaw Star. It's an oldie but a goodie. Other than that I have would suggest G Gundam. It had cool attacks plus you could root for your favorite country to win in the end. Personally I was for either Neo America or Neo Japan but France and Russia were cool too.

Now that I think about it both of these were on when I was young. Guess I've just been reminiscent lately.
