since you watched air and kanon, you should watch clannad since it's by the same creator. i usually don't cry when watching anime but clannad somehow was so emotional that it made me.

Try Koi Kaze, if you can keep an open mind. I won't spoil it for you, and you should keep away from any info on it until you watch it, as the spoil is integral to the whole sadness part.

Animes that are good sad and romancy: Blood+ ( this one is one of my favorite anime and really good.) Tokko= really good.  They both fit good sad and romancy. Especially good
