    On English the word the BOLSHEVIK can be translated from Russian as NUMEROUS.  "Bolshe"(больше) - MUCH...

I suppose you're looking for a test answer here, so the other alternative probably won't do you much good: essentially they won the war of attrition with the other factions struggling for power in the aftermath of the revolution.  Everyone else either gave up or defeated each other, leaving the Bolsheviks winners by default.  

    Sometimes history isn't as simple as multiple choice, you know?

    EDIT:  The Bolsheviks were not winners by default.  They fought and won a pretty brutal civil war against the White Russians as well as dealt with interference from the US and GB.
