Im getting a new aquarium. This is going to be a tropical set up as a feature in a quiet corner of my living room so i would like one in a dark wood cabinet to match my other furniture.

Both the Fluval Vicenza 180 bow fronted aquarium & cabinet, and the Juwel Vision 180 bow fronted aquarium & cabinet have been recommended to me.

They are both available in dark wood and seem very similar, i suppose the main difference is one has an internal filter and the other an external. But im not sure how much of a difference that makes aslong as it does the job.

I know about 'cycling' etc but im not up to date with new filters, lights and such gadgets.

I really dont know which is best for me to chose. Ive been pondering over it for weeks now and cant decide so i would really value any help you can offer.

Thanks in advance

  1. The Fluval has a much better filter but, personally I think the Juwel is a better looking piece of furniture which is what these type of tanks are.

What species of fish are you planning to keep and how many is your main deciding point. If you are going for fish that produce a lot of waste the Fluval should win, but if you are going for the visual effect of shoaling fish then the Juwel has advantages.

  2. i would use the Juwel vision 180 because it looks better and i had a friend who had one of those and she said that the fish looked much happier than before this info probably wont help but im just bored any way...

    hoped it helped :D!

  3. i would go for the juwel aswell. The high lite system has a big advantage when growing plants as there is more light and i think the juwel is a little cheaper?

however, eventhough the juwel filters are ok, an external filter is a huge advantage. The juwel internal takes up space which can be annoying and an external takes up hardly any space, well except cabinet.

    up to you :)

  4. Hi, I would definately use a Juwel Aquarium.  They are so much easier to maintain and are better made.  They also now come with t5 light units which give off a lot more lights.  The filters in the juwel tanks are very well designed and give you alot of freedom to fit different filter media into them.  Although if you did want an external filter you can always add one on and the juwel filter can be removed (or run both!)

    Hope this helps buddy.
