When I say wheat, I mean whole wheat pasta, whole wheat bread and all whole wheat products.

When I say grain products, I mean whole grain rice, whole grain quinoa and anything else in the same family.

So, what is your take?

  1. i always thought wheat was a type of grain....

  2. Wheat is a grain and all whole grains are very healthy.

  3. It really all depends.

Many are allergic to wheat - so wheat anything, no matter how 'healthy' it is just isn't going to work.

Rice while good - I still feel that wheat has more going for it overall over it - unless one is allergic.

I have never seen any quinoa breads or pastas products at any of the markets that I go to - and I go to several - Kroger, Whole Foods, HEB, Wel-Foods (Asian market in the area).

My take is that if you don't like it and the way that it tastes - doesn't matter how 'good' it is for you if your not going to eat it.

So I guess you could say that I believe that you should go with your own personal tastes and preferences - but don't limit it and not experiment with other foods as well.

  4. Wheat IS a grain.  That's like asking which is healthier, oranges or fruit?

Your best bet is to eat a variety of whole grains, including wheat (assuming it agrees with you... some people have a hard time digesting wheat.)

  5. Probably whole grain.  Sprouted grain is even better for you though.

  6. It all depends on "WHO" its for every body is different. I can't eat any "Whole wheat" products because of my kidney failure. I can eat whole grain rice. We are put on a very weird diet that seems to not be "healthy at all.

But good luck with your quest

  7. Whole grain, too much wheat(whole or not) is not good and may be an allergen if consumed too much. I'm not saying don't have wheat but if you're going to choose which to consume more, I would say grains.

  8. Grains are healthier.

  9. I don't think there's really a way to say. From what I can tell, they're just different sources of nutrients and have different nutritional content.
