We'll be moving to Sydney later this year and my new employer will be giving us an apartment in Chatswood until we get settled. Where should we start looking to settle? Wife, three children aged 18, 16 and 8. Near a good school/college, good transport links, good shopping and open spaces. Thanks.

  1. Its a nice area close to the CBD etc but as ppl have already said can be pricey but lots of schools to chose from. I'd be happy living there.

  2. Anywhere in North Sydney is good but pricey, down the road from Chatswood is Milsons Point, Kids will love it, Luna Park is there and has bus, trains, ferry's on the water. excellent schools harbour views and is my personal choice of a;; sydney suburbs.

  3. Hey,

Chatswood is a good area, its a mini CBD. I live about 20 minutes drive from there.

Most of the North Shore area is great. It answers most of your requirments. The down side is it is rather pricey. And rent prices are currently going through the roof.

I tend to think you will love Chatswood. It is heavily populated by asian cultures and residents. This is either a negative or postive to some. Although you will have access to fantastic public transport. It will take you 15 minutes to get to the city via the train. A very very large Westfield is located in the middle of chatswood (great shopping!) lots of open parks and playing fields, semi decent night life with restraunts, pubs, clubs, cinemas .. etc etc
