1. I use Paradigm and am more than happy with my Monitor Series setup....Others that are considered to be the best brand are B&W and Klipsch.

If there are any dealers that have these speakers listen to them for yourself and buy whichever ones you think sound better.

  2. First - Bose is more about 'perceived value' than audio quality.

Second - speakers have 'flavor'. Your question is like asking what is the best flavor and brand of ice cream : everyones answer will be different and all will be correct.

While I like Definitive - you may prefer Klipsch, Boston or Polk. Take a CD and audition and decide for yourself.

Third - The Perfect Vision magazine just came out with the "Best Of" list for last year including speakers. See what they have to say.

  3. As others have stated. Definitive is great. I have 2 complete systems in my home. And looking at a third. The Mythos ST.

I have listened to the likes of Snell, Klipsch, Canton. I always come back to Definitive. But it is really up to your ears.

As far as build quality and bang for the buck. You'll be hard pressed to beat Definitive. They don't make a bad speaker at any level.

I would honestly stay away from Bose though. They just don't have it anymore....

  4. i am in agreeance, bose is overprice, overrated stuff. definitive is one of my favorites along with polk and klipsch. when you are buying speakers they need to meet your needs. room size, location of speakers, visual appearance and finally and most import sonic performance. the speakers should immerse or surround you in sound. they should have wide sound stage to help bring on screen images alive. all speakers should be matched for timbre and sound reproduction. those are some good areas for you to start.

  5. You have spent the money on an audiophile grade receiver. Now don't go consumer on the speakers. Bose is a 'legend' in the world of speakers...but they are severely frowned upon by audiophiles. JBL are CHEAP Infinity's. Infinity USED to be audiophile until they sold out. They are both owned by a conglomerate called Harman International (yes...the Harman as in Harman Kardon, but they are certainly NOT what they used to be).

Definitive Technology speakers are true, entry level audiophile speakers. DT makes speakers...nothing but speakers. And they do it VERY well.

Definitives have been around for a long, long time and their speaker lines definitely have not changed...just advanced.

I would also advise taking a look into B&W...they have very well made, beautiful sounding speakers.

Stereophile magazine puts out their list of speakers which they recommend in every price range....take a look and more than one listen to all speakers. Your likes and mine may be VERY different.

  6. Check out avsforum.com lots of useful info. They p**p on Bose speakers and will set you on the right direction (infinity, klipsch, paradigm)
