  1. BAD WIMPFEN! The question was which one is the BEST, not the biggest, oldest or most famous. Don't believe me? Go and see for yourself. I also enjoy Heidelberg because any day on the cobblestones in the Old City by the Neckar is great, and because I live there! Frankfurt am Main has one great attraction: the best FRIES I have ever eaten in my life, sold only at one stand near the Hauptwache. And if you want a really small, informal but nice one, there is a small village between Darmstadt and Bensheim..or there was, I cannot find it on a map now...with a one-weekend Christmas market with handmade cards by children, great wursts and tasty fries and a "Gemuetlichkeit" found in few such markets.

But PLEASE, whatever you do,,do NOT eat any fries with mayonnaise..NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Nuremberg, Munich, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Hannover

  3. i think in nuernberg .....they also have the best ginger breed

    have fun

here is the offical website in english from 2006

  4. It's in Nuernberg (Bavaria). There's also the company which makes "Lebkuchen". A German candy for christmas-time.

  5. The best one is in Dresden for sure! It is very big and very nice.

  6. and don't forget hanover !!!!!

  7. I lived in Germany for many years, of course in my opinion:

Cologne, Nurenburg, and Munich are the Best.  The each have something different about them, which make them each the best in their own right.  And, they're all huge; bigger than the ones in Frankfort or Berlin.

here is a list of all the Christmas Markets in Germany....

the city of Rothenburg on the Tauber...the whole town is decorated for Christmas...we all just go Christmas Market hopping....

  9. Nuremberg

  10. I would say the Christkindelmart in Munich is the best one I've been to. But I also enjoyed Basel (Switzerland) as well.

  11. Munich is beautiful at Christmas.i also think landshut is nice, to visit for christmas.and both places are not to far away, from each other.

  12. Stupid answers I must say...sorry!  The question was: Which are the best in GERMANY, not in Bavaria....  Bavaria (Nürnberg, Munich, Rothenburg etc.) is the only part of Germany, that Americans know best, because they had there army there. It's the part where they eat Sauerkraut and Bratwurst and wear leather pants. But this is not the real Germany, it's like I would ask for America and get the answer: Gambling halls and casinos all over the country, just because i had seen Las Vegas once...

Okay, back to the question: The most popular (but not the best and by far the most expensive one) is Nürnberg (Nuremberg). But the 2 most beautiful ones are in Dresden (East Germany - former German Democratic Republic and about 150 kilometres away from Berlin) and in Dortmund (West Germany, they always have the highest Christmas-tree in the world). The advantage in Dortmund also is: Dortmund is part of the "Ruhr area", where you will find many many cities one after the other, and it's close to Clolgne, Düsseldorf as well as to Holland, Belgium etc. - Not a real tourist place but the REAL Germany at his best side.

Merry x-Mas  :-)  ang greetings from Düsseldorf, Germany

  13. I'd say Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Munich...
