I am 6 months pregnant and a learner`s permit,I can`t practice now for driving, and my husband remains very busy,my son,26 months old hasn`t started speaking yet,so I want to introduce him with other kids of his own age plus he feels bored at home.

Is there any local or private agency that can provide pick `n drop in a reasonable price,I am willing to pay,I `ll also go with my son to childcare and remain with him as he don`t leave me for a while and I don`t want to scare him....thanks

  1. Call your local elementary school and social service agencies.  They should be able to refer you to some day care and preschool services.  Also check with churches as some of them have preschool programs.  Your son is really a little young for this and would probably benefit from being at home with mom.  However, if you are concerned about his speech, ask your doctor if there is an Early Intervention program in your area.  They usually provide transportation.  Good luck in your search.

  2. You might look at play groups. This is an opportunity for you to socialize and your child to socialize.

Meetup.com has one organize in Amarillo.

We have several types of meetups to suit everyone's needs and schedules including playgroups, mom's night out, babysitting co-op, scrapbooking parties, family outings, etc. All are welcome, so come and play!

It looks like your library has a story time! You might see if you can walk or take a bus.

    Where?

    Southwest Library

One mother might be able to pick you up until you can drive yourself. Is your husband willing to drive you at all?

In the meantime, have you talked to your dr about your concerns? I see there is an Auditory Oral progam in your area, if you need it:

    Region XVI

    Education Service Center

    P.O. Box 30600

    Amarillo, TX 79124

    (806) 376-5521

Another online group that might be helpful is at www.raisingthem.com

If you are stuck on the child care over a meet up, visit http://www.helloamarillo.com/YP/c_CHILDD... and call around.

In the meantime, talk to your son as much as possible, does he follow your voice? He might be a late bloomer, but you also want to find out if he has any difficulty.

    Good luck!
