Which are the best guidebooks for backpacking France & Spain?

I need them to not be to big and heavy as Im backpacking.

Do I get 2 books, 1 for each country? or an overall Europe one?

go for DK top 10 guides i prefer those, a europe 1 wouldnt be worth it you arent covering enough ground

I prefer the Lonely Planet guides, yes they are heavy but they have all you need for backpacking.

You can either buy a country guide for each country or Mediterranean Europe or the Western Europe, both cover France as well as Spain but also several more countries.

It depends on how much traveling you are going to do now and in future years to work out which guidebook(s) are best for you.
