If you have to be in NYC by 6:30.  You have to weigh a few things, One is how far are you looking to get away from  NYC. Metro North goes 90 Miles North of NYC, you can get trains that will get you into NYC from station/towns that are far from the city however, you will have to get the train at 4:45am.  I recommend the are around White Plains.  It is a big city in Westchester and you can take a train into Grand Central in 30 minutes.  Plus White plains is Young town with a lot of bars and things to do.
