They do offer private rooms and furnished appartments for short term rental ( but not for 2-3 days ) .

What they are going to try to do is buttrape you into using a real estate broker who will charge you 2 to 3 months rent for the pleasure of finding you a small place.  It is a rip from the word go.

If you are going to live there for a short time, you are better off seeing if anyone knows anyone in Munich who has a grandma with a loft or room she can rent you.  Either that or, if it really is short term, look for a corporate housing type of deal which may cost more per month but you wont have to pay the broker, so you save.

Other option is to contact the University there and see if there are any students looking to share a place short term while someone is out, or for a semester.
