  1. The Antonov 124 is the largest in common use.  Frequently used to transport large/heavy products, for instance in the oil industry.  The Anotonv 225 is larger, but was built for special purposes.  Max gross take off weight 1,322,275 pounds.

They work like any other airplane from ultralights up to the heaviest and largest ever built.  The laws of physics and aerodynamics are remarkably consistent.

  2. Who's giving the thumbs down to all the right answers above? The Super Guppie and the  Antonov 124  are both excellent answers.

  3. Super Guppie

  4. C-130's

  5. Although there are a few (single digit) AN-124s in service, and 1 AN-225 was built (to ferry the Russian space shuttle Buran, which is now in a museum in Australia), the largest freighter by volume is the Boeing 'Dreamlifter'- modified 747 for ferry of 787 major assemblies.  Two are in use so far.  In civil transport for air freight, the largest production freighter is the Boeing 747-400 freighter, both by volume and by payload capability.  Airbus considered (and launched) an A380 freighter but the orders were cancelled and that program is on hold.

  6. The C5a galaxy is huge, you can fit 6 greyhound busses on it, also the russians have one called the tokarov which is even bigger

  7. The largest cargo aircraft is the An-225 , but those are operated by the Russian Goverment.

The largest Civilian Cargo Aircraft from Russia available is the An-124, which is only slightly larger than a C-5.

The largest cargo a/c is the A380-800 which larger than the 124, and about the same size as the an-225.

If your asking how do the load cargo.. easy, the nose comes up to load from the front if needed, and the tail drops down where they can driver right up it, or for large objects, the aircraft has an on-board overhead crane that can pickup freight and position in the aircraft.

a litte fun fact.. the spruce goose - still had a longest  wing span and height

  8. The world's largest cargo plane is the russian AN-225 Myria.  What do oyu mean how do they work? they have jet engines, 6 actually, that propel them forward and the wigns provide lift just like any other airplane
