  1. I think this will happen until immigration reform becomes reality. It says much about the distortion of the facts, mostly that produce is not being harvested by illegals. I also think its sad that people cannot answer the question but instead choose to bash as usual. If the question was accusing Illegals of starting the salmonella outbreak with no facts or basis they would have given you serious answers, so typical.

  2. We have TENS OF MILLIONS of illegal criminal aliens in the U.S.

Only a small percentage work in the fields picking fruit or vegetables.

We do not HAVE, nor do we NEED tens of millions of "tomato pickers" in the U.S., and we certainly don't "need" criminal illegal aliens to do it.

Why do people such as yourself pretend that this is the only job they do??

  3. many would claim, immigrants are a waste of money, except when they are Asians, Brits or from Ireland, we just want to fill our mouths and say illegals as another form to say Mexicans, very soon the economy will get to where we will need more "illegals" before we start enjoying our MC Donalds at only .99 or many bargains, because WE Americans don't have the B...s to do those Jobs, we are so confy, that we forgot we also eat, no tomatos, no pickles, no rice, no harvest, we all loose, I guess that sooner or later we will also find the excuse, it is not because we deport illegals it has to do with the Oil prices, then we all eat oil.

  4. Razor Jim is right--no one is anti immigrant, just anti criminals.

Americans will do any job that pays a wage that results in their ability to live a life that has dignity.

The ending phrase you posted ("not having enough undocumented") is laughable.

One undocumented is one too many, sheesh.

  5. Of course all of the anti-illegals don't realize this. I would like to see all of people who can only utter the word "deport" step up and work in the fields in the 90 degree weather when all of the illegals get deported. That won't happen. Everyone complains and complains and complains, but once the workers are gone, then they will complain that nobody wants to fill their jobs!

These people are just as much of criminals as you and I are. It is obvious that the times have changed and laws need to be changed..And there is a good reason why so many illegals are given jobs here.

  6. I don't see why anyone legally authorized to work in the U.S. would avoid these positions.  There are plenty of documented migrant workers.  Unless, of course, they were undocumented.  If that was the case, then this man was not operating his farm under ethical (or legal) practices.

I think that the owner of this particular farm is missing an economic oppurtunity.  I live in Eastern PA, and the pick-your-own places are thriving... and increasing exponentially.  It reduces the overhead for the farm owners, and reduces the cost of goods for the consumer.  I read an article last month (if I can find it I'll add it here) that said that pick-your-own businesses are one of the fastest growing markets in the country... in some areas they have grown ten fold.  For people who live in urban and dense suburban areas, these types of places are wonderful.  People can enjoy homegrown produce at a reasonable cost.  My kids actually enjoy going to such places, it is a fun family day out.  I think it is a win/win oppurtunity.  They can hire a few legally authorized employees where needed, reduce their overhead, stay in business, and the consumers save money.

  7. 1.  Don't believe everything you read on a web site.

    2.  If this site were true, it would be national news in a new york minute.

    3.  When the tomato pickers left this farm, this farmer did not turn to the Human Resources department because if he had, he would have gotten those workers.

    4.  How do you know how much those workers got per hour?

It is NOT in the story.

    5.  All employers who say are running out of workers have almost always discovered they could hire... at more money, workers from human resources.

    6.  Many, many of the people who usually hire migrant illegal aliens will now have to return to legal migrant labor and pay more.  They complain a very great deal, and the American Taxpayer does not pay welfare to make up for the wages the cheating employers ..do..not..pay.

Thanks for bringing us another excellent success story.

  8. It just reflects the truth known by many Americans, that undocumented immigrants are necessary for many productive endeavors to produce in an economically viable way their products and services.

Once this is understood, legals ways should be provided accordingly with the need at hand...

  9. I don't know any anti-immigrants. I know lots of anti-illegals.

Illegals aren't immigrants. There is no such thing as undocumented.

When are you pros going to stop making up all these PC words for criminal illegal aliens?

We need more illegals like we need more traitors to employ them.
