  1. Hurricane is a killer of people,a tornado smashes more buildings.

  2. hurricane - severe tropical Cyclone with fast spiralling winds.

tornado - a violent storm with destructive whirlwinds.

  3. A hurricane starts on water and moves on too land is is generally more disaterous then a tornado as a hurrcane has the ability to build up speed when over water

  4. A hurricane does not spin  as much as a tornado on land

  5. A tornado is created from a lack of water.

A hurricane is created from an abundance of water.

Conversely; A tornado is from dry land

A hurricane is from a lack of land.

  6. hurricane is on water and tornado is on land...

  7. Firstly, tornadoes are formed from an instability in the atmosphere, whereas hurricanes are formed when a wet mass of air over the sea evaporates. Because of this, tornadoes usually form during thunderstorms. However, for hurricanes, thunderstorms are its effects, and not a cause of its formation.

The effects also differ, though there are obvious similarities such as the destruction of buildings. Most importantly, hurricanes can cause tsunamis and flooding, while tornadoes do not. Instead, they contaminate the water. Besides, tornadoes can cause epidemic, while this is not an effect of a hurricane.

  8. a hurricane is a very big storm that usually gets stronger or weaker with the water temp and land its on. also it usually can stay going for days or even weeks.

a tornado is usually around 1 mile and under wide, wind speeds of up to and over 200mph. and only last but a few miles and a few seconds but cost millions in damage.

check out this one that just hit Suffolk VA, just outside my house another is blown away, a EF3 tornado. one of the biggest to hit Virginia.

they said it traveled 25 miles and took only about 15 seconds to do over 15 million in damage.

edited: also a tornado is the wind itself, usually coming from a thunderstorm.

a hurricane is just a huge mass of thunderstorms over water that spins. a hurricane has the ability to throw out many tornados at once and some don't throw out any, mother nature is very unpredectable just like a sudden EF3 that misteriously appeared next door and distroyed that house.

the direction depends on what hemisphere you are in,

in the northern hemisphere its counter clockwise, the southern its clockwise, its causes by the spin of the planet.

  9. ha this is funny im doing a project on them right now

    well at least about hurricanes

    anywho

huricanes are made from a large low pressure system in tropical districs with a wind speed of over 119/kph

tornadoes i have no idea :P

but i do know hurricanes/tropical cyclones/typhoons in the southern hempisphere spin clockwise and in the northern hemisphere spin anti-clockwise. <<yea i found that a little strange

  10. A hurricane is cause by hot weather and lots of water. They start at sea and as they move inland lose power and die down.

Tornados are started by two different temps meeting.

  11. Tornadoes are result of differing pressure systems colliding and atmospehric bursts of energy -- usually developing over landlocked areas.

Hurricanes are a build-up of system(s) over water -- usually the Atlantic.  They may contain tornadic activity as side effects.

Wind forces (at most severe) are comparable between the two.  Precipitation occurs with both systems.

  12. Tornadoes and hurricanes are often put together as the same thing. However, they are rather different types of natural disasters. The following lists some of their differences.

  13. A tornado is a weather event that occurs within a supercell thunderstorm.

A Hurricane is a massive collection of thunderstorms which begin the tropics.  A Hurricane can spawn hundreds of tornadoes at once.
