Which area in Istanbul considered a good place to start your sightseeing from?

I need to choose a hotel in agood area to go sightseeing from it, is Taksim good area to stay there and start my sightseeing?

I would recommend you stay in Sultanahmet, which is a short walk from most of the major historic sights - such as the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, and Topkapi Palace.

Taksim is more of a business district, but it is closer to most of the nightlife, if that's important to you.

    Taksim is a good area to start.

    The place is very close to Bosphorus. I recommend a boat tour.

    You can reach to old Istanbul from Taksim easily. A must to see area.

    Around Taksim you can take a walk in Istiklal street. A street full of old Greek buildings, churches.

   Another choice can be a hotel in old Istanbul ( around Sultanahmet square.) You can reach most of the interesting , historical places easily, by walk.
