  1. Get out a map of Paris that shows the metro/RER stations..

Draw a line from the Cite meto station to the St. Germain des Pres station then to the Luxembourg RER station then to Maubet Mutualite and thence back to the Cite station. this is the Latin Quarter/St. Germain area. Plunk yoursel down there and you'll find that you can't swing a cat without hitting a restaurant/bar/cafe.

The following are also very lively areas: 1) around the new opera house at the Place Bastille 2) the area on either side of the rue du Temple 3) the rue Mouffetard 4) Montmartre

  2. Try this - good reviews and regular updates

  3. Well, it depends whereabouts you're going to be staying.  We had a holiday one year in the St Germain des Pres area - and there were loads of lovely little restaurants down side streets.  Near Montmartre also has great restaurants, etc.

Paris is full of small eating places - some which are great value for money and serve beautiful food.  If you go to the famous restaurants, then it will cost a lot.  Same as in any big city.

I'm full of envy - have a great holiday

ps ... wandering round in Paris is easy - you could walk along the banks of the Seine, through the Tuilleries - window shop in Place Vendome .....    aaaaaaaaaargh :)

  4. I would say that anywhere in Paris is going to be good, but I personally would choose dinner in Altitude 95 in the Eiffel Tour and then a bateaux mouches (boat) down the Seine. Simply amazing! Maybe follow that up with a chocolate crepe from any local sidewalk seller and a bottle of wine in an apartment overlooking Notre Dame and the Seine.
