  1. Avranches, a small French village set on a hill overlooking the bay and the Mont Saint Michelle.  The market on Saturday morning should not be missed.

  2. Avignon and Nimes (the birthplace of denim) are both beautiful.  I have heard (as the native said) that Aix-en-Provence is a definite must-see.

An earlier poster said Avignon is reachable only by car.  Not true.  It has two railway stations, one for the regional trains and one for TGV.  The older regional gare is an easy walk to the Pope's palace and the river.

I love Carcassonne.  Its old city is the largest walled city in Europe and is a UN world heritage site.  Definitely worth the trip!

  3. We stayed in the Lot region near a town called Figiac....it was lovely wilth little medieval villages scattered around, rolling hills, limestone areas, it was just lovely.

  4. Not Marseille or Paris, both really dirty. I'd go for Dieppe, it's a really friendly town with quite a lot to do, but small enough that you can get anywhere on foot. The beach is nice in the summer and the castle is great.

  5. Biarritz!!!!!

  6. Marseilles me prefere

  7. I really like Alsace from Colmar to Strasbourg. So many little interesting places. It's quite nice to feel the intermingling of German and French cultures along this region of the Rhin. Another pretty area is the sister region Lorraine. I like the yellow stone of Metz. Food is also great! Choucroute garnie and quiche lorraine, throw in a biere or an eau-de-vie de mirabelle.

  8. I actually didn't like Marseille, I felt it was very dirty. There is a one area, and you really can only get to it if you have a rental car. But, its called Avignon. I believe that is how you spell it. Its a beautiful little town, but the view from the town is amazing! Have fun!!!

  9. Go to Franche Comté region, a quite unknown place, which is great.

  10. i prefer Paris i choose to live in  but i really love bretagne too for its magic atmosphere

  11. Provence of course! Aix-en-Provence, one of the most beautiful city in the world. Marseille is not that bad, you have to go to the right place, like Notre Dame de la Garde, le Prado, the Corniche and the beaches. And all the countryside is so lovely! With the Sainte Victoire mountain. And it is ALWAYS sunny! OK, 10 days raining a year.

  12. aquitaine, midi-pyrénées , languedoc roussillon and riviera

  13. Tours - elle est vraiment belle, et tout la monde est sympa, je trouve. Le vieux quartier a Tours est magnifique

  14. I like southern france because its not too touristy. Its also really gorgeous. the loire valley was my favorite

  15. Provence and the Riviera : seashores, mountains, hills, little villages and often sunny !

  16. I shouldn't answer, but my favorite places are Paris and Toulouse. Two beautiful cities. The south west is really great, as the west in general.

Strasbourg is a beautiful city too but a lot of people are very racist.

Generally here the best people are in the west (north or south).
