We are a young christian family looking to relocate, probably to one of these two areas. We are not familiar with either city except for any information that we've been able to find online.

We're mainly wondering what the overall vibe is of the cities. Is either one more "southern" in terms of inhabitants, hospitality and that sort of thing?

What we're mostly after is somewhere that feels like the south. Somewhere that has a nice community feel, but also has a lot to offer in terms of jobs. We would appreciate any information or even suggestions of other cities/towns in VA.

  1. non of them i lived in virginia for 22 years and there is nothin fun here. Go up in the mountains in virginia its alot better there i havent heard anything about bad crimes there.

  2. i would say norfolk (hampton roads area) but i am bias. i grew up in va beach and several moves later i still call it home and know i will settle there when i retire. it's has the perks of being in a big area with the small town feel in neighborhoods, churches, and community groups. it is also a huge military area so you meet people from everwhere and every culture.

if you want specific details on the area and specific neighborhoods i know a realtor who was born there and knows the entire hampton roads area to the smallest detail. what little info she doesn't have memorized she certainly knows who to ask for it. even if you are just considering the area and don't use her for real estate shopping, i'm sure she'd be more than happy to help you. i'll put her info below.

    good luck
