The Crane Bar is Galway city is the best place for a trad session.

In County Galway, go to Spiddal, or Roundstone, and I remember that Clifden has some also ... but I think you're best bet is simply to ask a local person.

Loads of pubs do, but sometimes they have a night or two where that is the only music played.  I know the Kings Head sometimes, and the Rosin Dobh (Black Rose not sure if i spelled that corectly its been a few years since i have been to Galway) the Quays.  And thats only in the City.  Lots of the smaller towns in the county will have it also

                  the best answer to this question is of course almost in any pub in almost any town in Ireland, but you asked about Galway and not being a pub going Irishman, I am still qua;lified to inform you that virtuall every pub in Galway City will provide you with this pleasure, so you should really wear shoes that we can hear you foot-tapping to as you enjoy the traditional music and Fare available for you everywhere in Galway. you would be welcomed into joining in with your instrument as you play along if the musicians gathered before you are in agreement to watch and listen to you,

       If Billy Connelly can do it, so should anyone with an ability to keep time and tune with the performers, that are playing with you. and not all the singers have an Irish or even Galway accent, Connelly is a scot, you are obviously not Irish, but we welcome everyone into our bosom, and make sure they know they were welcome too. its in our National Greeting when you hear or read it..."
