  1. Anything west of the great dividing range would be 'the most' drought prone.

The coastal areas generally get fairly reliable rain although the dams aren't always in the best spots to catch it.

There are a few spots on the east coast that get ALOT of rain, other than that though anywhere can get pretty dry at times.

  2. darwin in the north is very dry & desert like its where a lot of abos live.

  3. I remember being in Townsville in Queensland and it was really hot there.

  4. It depends on how you define drought.  If it is general low rainfall then the Centre, for sure.  If it is significantly less than usual rain, pretty much anywhere can be subject to drought.  I guess this is less likely in the northern tropics because of monsoonal influence (what idiot said Darwin was the desert?), or Tasmania but everywhere is susceptible to lower than usual rainfall for extended periods.

  5. I'm from melbourne and we're on stage 3 or 4 water restrictions down here, so the south is suffering from drought and has been for over ten years. there's this mountain range that comes down the east side of australia called the great dividing range. on the outside of this range (coastal side) they get more rain, the inside the rain does not reach as much because of the mountains.  so western victoria and new south wales, the red centre, as well as south and western australia are very prone to drought. australia is an overall arid country so there is not much rain anywhere. places such as darwin, broome and northern queensland are tropical regions so they have clearly defined wet and dry seasons, I don't think they're as prone to drought, not in the wet season any how. but it is still arid country up there. I'm not sure about tasmania. i'm sure their situation is similar to everywhere else.

to that idiot who said where the "abos" live, shame on you. there's no reason to be racist in a question. especially one that didn't call for it.

  6. Australia is mostly desert with a few cities on it. South tends to get most rain north very little. So the north of Sydney and north of Perth.
