  1. Essex

  2. Eastern England (East Anglia). This was the area where most of the saxons first arrived & settled,so has the highest population of their descendents.recent genetic testing shows about 50 percent of the population has Saxon ancestry in this area.

In most other areas of England, the majority of people have celtic/pre-celtic heritage particularly on the maternal side (almost NO English women today have been found with the saxon dna 'marker' so it looks like the settlers actually married local women.) it kind of refutes the old 'saxon wipeout'  theory (added to that, there have never been mass graves found from any such 'slaughter'-indeed near to me pagan saxons & Christian celts were buried in the same cemetary!)

Interestingly the so called english 'saxon' look-lanky,fair,blue eyed was actually noted as a characteristic when the Romans arrived here-long before the saxons arrived. The romans also noted the Welsh were dark 'like Spaniards' (like the Irish, they are actually more closely related to the basques of Spain that any mid_European celt) and the Scots often had red hair.

  3. England (exluding Cornwall) as all other parts are Celtic and not Saxons

  4. Lowland Scotland.  (they still speak a form of Anglo Saxon).

  5. South East England mostly.

To the South West they are more ancient British, and more related to the Basque and Atlantic coast people, to the North they have a lot of Norse ancestry.
