    Pippin is a UNIQUE, GERMAN name. Not a pet name. That's incredibly insulting. NO it may not be popular in America, but that doesn't mean you have to bash it.

    I think Pippin would be an awesome name to have as a boy.

    It means Father, which is actually quite admirable.

    Phillip, on the other hand, means horse lover...

    You be the judge.

    Isn't Pippin from Lord of the Rings?? Apparently, there is also a musical about "Pippin the Hunchback". A hobbit and a hunchback...

    Plus, can you imagine being a grown man named Pippin?! It sends shivers down my spine.

    If you really want to go that direction, a variant of Pippin is Perrin.  He could go by Perry.
