  1. BERNARD because I can tell how to pronounce it just by looking at it.

Selim, although well-intentioned, will subject your child to a lifetime of "How do you pronounce that name, honey?  SALEM?"

An American would pronounce it SELL-im...kids will tease him about his parents trying to sell him on the black market or something.

  2. I do not like either.  Bernie is such a old man's name.  Honestly I think if you call him Selim he will get teased and be called Semem.

  3. none really, but bernard is probably the better of the two

  4. Bernard

  5. I like Selim.

  6. Selim.

    im turkishISHISH

  7. selim. i love unique baby names. bernard might be kind of hard to pull off, he might get made fun of.

  8. They are both nice! :) But if I were picking i would choose Selim! It sounds nice and sweet! Hope this helps and good luck!

  9. honestly, i do not like either :(

i guess i'd say selim... it sounds more unique and not so outdated... when i hear bernard i think of a dog.. like a saint bernard.. and selim has a nice meaning to it.. it means safe so maybe it'll be a 'safe' name.. :)

    good luck

  10. I would go with Selim, I like the way it sounds and the meaning of the name is also great as well, but I would go with what your heart tells you to name the baby.

  11. neither...but the better of the two is selim. bernard sounds like a dog.

  12. SELIM

  13. I prefer selim

  14. Bernard Selim or Selim Bernard, it should go well with the family name.

  15. I would have to go with Selim.

Bernard sounds like a old name to me =/.

  16. Selim.

  17. I would name my baby Bernard before I named him Selim. Selim doesn't even sound like a name.

  18. Selim

  19. i like Selim.

  20. Neither personally. But if I had to choose Selim

  21. bernard i like better of the two for a first name. i think selim would make a wonderful middle name, though.

    For Example:

    Collin Selim

    James Selim

    John Selim

    Jacob Selim

    Theodore Selim

    Patrick Selim

    Tyler Selim

    just some ideas :]

  22. bernard, but I don't think either one will go over well with other children

  23. selim seems weird in writing.. but it does sound unique and meaningful (safe)

  24. Selim, unique and never heard of it.

  25. Really think about what you name your child before you name him. Reason being...kids with weird names or names that are funny to pronounce are going to be made fun of. Children are very very cruel. However, of the two Selim. Bernard was made a terrible name by "Weekend At Bernie's".

  26. Bernard, however, i like the meaning for Selim, but Bernard is more common and known off.... :)

  27. I prefer Bernard.

    Selim sounds like a cigarette

  28. Those are both dumb names.

  29. I would say Bernard. If Selim, when he gets older, the kids would start to tease him by calling him s***n.

  30. Neither. But if I had to chose, I guess Bernard.
