The suggestions above me say the name Noel is for a girl, but I thought it was spelled as Noelle. I know a man by the name of Noel and I think that it's a very nice name. Both Denis and Noel are nice but I prefer Noel. Hope this helps.

I absolutely love Noel.  How do you pronounce it?  I prefer NOL (rather than NO-el), but either way I like it better than Denis.  The problem with Denis is, of course, the fact that if you replaced just one letter (hint: the first), it'd be a rather unpleasant word...

First of all I love them both their such great names!!!!!

      Denis: Nice and cute name but way too popular. Denis is such a good name but I don't like it real much. I would say it's cute though.

      Noel: I would say I like it but I would usually name a child born near Christmas Noel because in french Santa Claus is Noel. If you Christian I'd suggest you name a baby Noel.

Denis would be ok, but better spelled Dennis.  Otherwise, well, it's already been stated what it's too much like.
