  1. good service NONE

easy find ATM,S & easy to use internet banking i wouls chose Commonwealth

  2. Even in Melbourne, I'd recommend the Bank of Queensland. I've been with them for years; their service is great and always friendly and you can even call branches directly - they're all listed in the phone book. They have (I think ) 4 branches in the Melbourne CBD and 20 odd ATMs plus heaps of both in the suburbs. They also have an SMS 'locate a branch or ATM' service where you SMS the suburb name and postcode and you get a message with the 4 closest ATMs or branches. The bank doesn't charge for this - you only pay your normal SMS charge.

They advertise that they have the 2nd largest ATM network in Australia.

For various work reasons, I've had accounts with ANZ, Commonwealth and Westpac over the years and they're not a patch on BoQ for service.

  3. I have been with the commonwealth for years and they are fine. Their fees are about the same as all the other major banks, but their internet banking facilities are the best I have ever used.

Customer service generally is good - you can also bank at any post office or branch which is handy - and when dealing with them on the phone, alot of their operations are based in Sydney and Hobart, so typically you do not get a heavy accented caller to deal with.

  4. ive tryed them all, a home loan with the commonwealth, buisness account with advanced/stgeorge, state, anz, westpac, the one i have now is the cheapest for fees has a great web site, with a security token that gives you a number so its more secure online and its the bendigo, atms are scarce but you can get a low cost debit card so you dont need cash all the time, i have 5 accounts costing me $13 a month.
