  1. there're many comparison sites which help you to choose the most competitive accounts. Try moneysupermarket.com or uswitch.com. I'd say HSBC and Abbey are good. Don't really like Barclays as they've done some dodgy stuff to me, had to fight with them to get my money.

  2. I cannot answer for an 18 year old but i would avoid Lloyds TSB and HSBC.

  3. I would go to 2 or 3 of the big banks in your town and find out if you can get any cash incentives to change banks. One is offering £100 if you change your account to them, but that does not mean it is a good bank. You must ask your own questions and get answers. I am with the Clydesdale Bank I am never in the red , so I do not get bank charges. In 20 odd years I have never had any charges. It is when you get in the red that you find out all the bad stuff about all banks. It is only you that can do the leg work to find out which bank fits your life style. The Clysesdale can do a free £100 over draft if needed.

  4. Barclay's.

  5. None of them.  Send all your money to me - and I'll look after it for you. Cheers!

  6. Your question is to vague and open to a number of answers. We need to know what you features you'd want with your account and how you intend to use it. It would also help if you let us know why you were charged £250 in fees from Lloyds TSB, so that we can match you up with a bank that maybe doesn't charge the same fees.

It's funny how you have the time to ask such a vague question here, and to check back for answers, yet you're too lazy to visit some of the big banks online to have a look at their current offers.
