I was woken up by my husband getting out of bed. I wasn't really sleeping because I tossed and turned all night. So at 7 am (which I never wake up at) it was 97.7 and then I went down stairs and ate a banana because I was in pain from being hungry (this never happens). I went back to sleep and rewoke at 10ish to test and it was 98.5 and I thought I'd sleep a little more since I ate something which I know you're not supposed to do but I figured it had been a while. I woke up 4 hours after eating and slept very well and temped again at 11:30 @ 98.6. According to my chart what should this be? I've been picking my temps when I wake up around 10 or 11(these daggon olympics!). Help please!

  1. Hello

The rule with BBT, is to have three consecutive days of a raised temp. This will rule out "disturbances" caused by irregular sleep etc. So chart the time and the temp, and make a note of that nights activity.

As for the temp going up. You need to have 6 hours of consecutive sleep to have your temp. go to its basal rate. It is advised that you take your temp around the same time every morning. If you don't-here is a rule of thumb. Your temp will raise 2 10ths of a degree for every extra hour.

Hope that helps. I am trained fertility awareness educator. Just a question..are you trying to prevent or achieve pregnancy??? This really factors in to what you are trying to go for.

Becuase if you are trying to get pregnant...once your temp goes up, it means you have alerady ovulated AND that the egg is no longer viable. Typically, temp is used to confirm ovulation has already occured and that you are NO longer considered fertile.
