Which beach area has the least seaweed Cancun or Riviera Maya?

Cancun is in the shape of a 7. Anywhere from the north where it turns heading south you will find no seaweed. Even in Playa del Carmen (Playacar resorts) you will not see hardly any either. Tulum is nice as is Maroma Beach.

It just varies from week to week, some times from day to day.  It all depends of the currents, wind and other factors.

Most big hotels clean their beach every day.  The City of Cancun and many of the main points in the Riviera (like Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, etc.) also clean their beaches, but not as often or thoroughly.

I have not seen that much seaweed around Tulum.  It is a lot quieter.  If you are planing to enjoy the beach and sea mainly, then you could try to stay around Tulum.  They have from basic sea from cabins, to 4 star hotels and ecological bed and breakfasts.
