Which beach is better: Cancun or Playa Del Carmen?

I went there and why is the beach better in Cancun and why is there only waves in Cancun?

i know a ton of people who went to cancun and loved it but i dont know anyone who went to Playa del carmen.

Gee, "GMac," you seem to ask the question then answer it yourself! Depends on what you like, Carmen is a lot more relaxed than Cancun that's true and I don't seem much physical difference in the beaches personally. As far as your question about the waves, Cancun is right on the ocean front and Carmen is located behind the Island of Cozumel which forms like a giant protective shield.

(In fact if want to check out beaches you should actually get over to Cozumel, they have some really nice, uncrowded beaches and on the ocean side, some wicked waves.......)

Well, from what I've read...it seems that Playa Del Carmen is more quiet, tranquil and relaxing place.  Cancun has a party scene and there is always something to do 24/7.

I think the best one is Tulum, near the ruins...

this beach is one hour driving from Playa.

if you cannot go to Tulum stay in Playa del Carmen.

i went to cancun and hated it. it was very nasty. luckily our place was letting us rent a place in playa del carmen for cheap so we went there and i loved it. everything was just so much better...the food the beach everything!
